Mr Iveys Ride

Finally had the time to fire up some online short tonight. Was rusty so just played 2 tables of 3/6 at Interpoker. Serious callin stations here, kids.

+340 in about 3.5 hours and another +70 on Raisins Tilt account. Had fun when it got 2 and 3 handed and made 150 the last half hr. Might wanna try it out if you have a chance. Not sure why I ever play more then 3 handed. Its a BR builder.

Decent Concert and Poker Trip Report

Trying to get out of my real job early on Friday (3PM quitin time) and at 2 the boss says we have to go to "Disney Training". This is where they take employees opinions and try to improve the dealership, based on our ideas. This is really just an opportunity for our service and parts guy to vent and hear themselves talk. Salespeople know that the less you say in these meetings the faster you can go back to making money or go home.

So we listen to 2 clowns talk about how the time clock is too old and the bathrooms
need paint for an hour. They don't wanna go back to their sad existence behind the parts or service counter, IMO. This is FUN! We can complain and hope we are heard!

When the leader of the meeting says "okay, our hour is up, does anyone have anything else?" You can see the wheels turning on these 2 jokers faces. "Why yes, we need to knock out a wall to make more room in the service area and the mechanics need to stay away from our counter"

Uh,hello......loser. Yes you. There are no mechanics in this meeting, how bout you tell them the next time you see them so I can take Raisin to the Counting Crows, Goo Goo Dolls Concert tonight?

I get outa the Subaru Dealership about 3:30 and its time to pick up the warden and start the shitty drive in traffic to Auburn (White River Ampitheater). I pick her up and as usual she will drive so I can take a nappy. The warden is lookin good tonight with a recent $100 trip to the barber and a little summer sun on her.

90 min. later we are at the travelodge to check in before heading to the concert. It’s a dump but for $75 I wasnt expectin the Bellagio. Another hour to get to the concert (about 10 miles) and I realize I won't be making this drive again. The traffic sucks, and this is a bad area to put a huge concert venue.

This is our first trip to White River and its a very nice venue. Well organized and good parking. I'm not going back again but i'm just sayin.....

My favorite band 10 years ago is the headliner (Crows). They have not put out an album I would buy since "Recovering the Satellites" but its a good reason to get outa the house and I have not seen the GOO live before.

We get seated, about 100 yds from the stage and I see 2 cute yung grrrrrs holding a sign up that says "We Love GOO", sum serious fans of the opening act, The GOO GOO Dolls. Front man and lead vocals Johnny Rzeznick has great stage presence and a strong voice. The set bogs down everytime he letsbassist and co-founder Robbie sing, however. Robbie is one of the most annoying rockers of all time, IMO. He swings his hair around (even on slow songs) and kicks his feet like he has to go to da baffroom. His voice is weak especially when he has to sing next to Rzeznick.

Overall a good performance (75 min.) and we each swill 2 beers ($26) while waiting for The Crows to set up. This is my third time catchin a Crows concert and they just have not improved. No new strong songs and they seem to ramble too long, drawing out a 4 min. tune to 6 minutes. Adam Duritz (songwriter, lead vocals) has gotten stale and seems to get more enjoyment out of announcing all his "causes". Save the wolfs, save the battered women, get out and vote (goes way overboard here) and 2 other causes I missed. How bout you spend sum time writing some good material and let the drummer save the world, grrrfriend. I paid $50 a ticket to hear about how you wanna save wolves in Seattle? Pass. This is my last Crows event. GOO outplayed them even with the most annoying bassist in the world. My honey bunny was lots of fun and I really enjoyed her company and pretty mug.

Okay, enough on that. Its 11pm and we head out, missing the one encore (I asked a buddy that went). The Muck Casino is 10 min away, lets play some Poker.

We both started at 4/8 w/kill and within 20 minutes I realize we have about 6 unskilled bettin machines, 2 good players and yer host, Sharkee. Raisin is at another table. The pots are huge (several over $200 and lots of kills) and I’m thinking I might not be able to leave here for a day or 3. Then something unexpected happens. I win 3 hands in 3½ hours. I got cold decked for the whole session and watched horrible players stack chip after chip. One guy re-bought 4 times ($100 each) in 1 hour and continued to play every hand horribly, til broke.

First half hour. I get 99 in mid position, kill is on, Call, Call, Call, I raise to $16, one other caller (BB) and of course the rest call. About $95 in pot and floppage comes 5 7 9 rainbow. Check, check, check, I bet and BB raises to $16, I call, and the rest fold. Turn is a blank and I bet, BB raises to $32 and I start to worry about 6 8 for the flopped str8. Pots huge and I’m not folding to this loose table with top set, pair the Muthaf*#@*in board. Riv blank, I check he bets I call. He flips over 6 8o. nh. This was the first of several $200 pots that I either got riv beat on or cold decked by the perfect flop (for the bad guy).

I’m happy with how I played all night and was really happy with this lil dandy. I got JJ and its another kill, 8/16. Capped preflop by 4 players, pot is about $130 and we see a flop of 6 8 6 rainbow. First guy bets and we all call. I’m worried about an overpair but knowing this table no one has a six cause no one is missing any bets here. Turn is a 2 and I like it. 3 checks to me and I bet $16, I feel like I’m ahead now and I get a fold and 2 calls. I put the 1 caller on AK (he sees all 7cards when pot is big) and the other guy is so bad I figure him for 55 or maybe 8 rag. If either had an overpair they would be firin hardcore. Pots about $220 now and I’m thinking no A or K. BOOM KING. Check, now callin station bets and I know I’m beat. I got odds to call big time but lay it down after a short time. The guy I put on AK earlier calls and shows A7o! Worst player ever took it down with KQo. He says, “I came to gamble!!” And stacks $250 chips. This is just a small sample of the fun I had for this short session. But really, 1 big pot and I’m right back in it.

I was patient, didn’t chase, stayed aggressive and the deck screwed me. It happens.

It was painful at the time but now its kinda funny how bad these guys were. I dropped $310 in the 3.5 hrs and Raisin was so tired I took her back to the Motel. We crashed at about 4am. I really hate leaving all that easy money on the table but it’s not fair to leave my wifey at the slots when she can’t keep her eyes open. I’ll be back there soon.

Next time I’ll plan on a 15 hour session and have some fun.

We get up at about 11am and get a Starbucks then head for our Tacoma Attorney for some Shark bidness. Fun lunch with great new attorney (Dan) and its back to the dealership (on my day off!) in Seattle to deliver a Subaru to a client in Bellevue. Had an excellent dinner at Red Lobster (thx for gift card GAR and Fred) then got home about 8PM. Long day and about a $500 lighter bankroll (raisin got pounded as well).

Cheers, Shark

PokerRoom on the "Don't Play" List?

Our Team matches at Pokerroom are running into problems. Seems Pokerroom has software issues they can't resolve. Sounds like their support is weak as well.

Forum thread on Pokerroom Team play

Here is part of my history with this weak site:

Clay and Team Shark,

Sad to hear about Pokerroom problems. Let me know if I can help with any issues.

On a side note:

About a tear ago we were promised massive freerolls and low buyins by Pokerroom. The first one was scheduled to be $1000 added.

Pokerroom promised a bunch and then pulled out because of software issues. Of course they scored about 400 of our players that had registered based on their promises.

They then promised to have all fixed in a month or two. This was about 10 months ago. No emails from them. Its like I don't exist. We will not be playing Shark events there, ever.

I'm about done with them (might drop their banners as well). I hate their clunky software and we get very little play from the 400 shark players there. This Team bullshit might be the final nail in this weak sites coffin.

Hollywood made a bunch of promises to me also and never delivered (Hollywood is a "skin" of pokerroom) so I never worked with them.

We Need Your Support!

I want a few thousand of our members to make a commitment to posting once or twice in our forum each month. Invest 10 minutes each month to support the Freerolls and the hard work Raisin and I do. If you wanna go crazy post more.

Heres my thinking. We all sit in our living rooms and are offered tons of freerolls. Why deposit many say? Well if everyone said that there would be no freerolls. NONE. The 3-5% that deposit pay the way for the rest.

Thats not just for our site. Absolute, Poker.com and the rest will stop freerolls tommorrow if those loyal 3% don't do their thing. We have to make money (or at least break even) or we can't pay our web bills, hats, shirts, and added prize money.

I have never said "if you don't deposit, we don't want you". I will never say that. I thought of a way that all the non-depositing players can contribute until they decide free play is getting old. I built a forum (well awesome shark supporters, Net and Chippie built it mostly) and asked all members to contribute. So far 3% have. This is after at least 20 requests for the last 9 months and 3 special forum freerolls that got a shitty response. I dropped the added cash for many freerolls after the last one in frustration. I added the cash I took from the freerolls to the buyins cause I wanted to reward the players that are keeping us afloat. Funny, most of our buyin players are also our best forum posters.

Heres the bottom line to me. I think 98% of our players are good people and would like to support us. Say I bought a giant Casino and offered you all a $1000 freeroll and you showed up ready to play. 500 of you. You would be excited you were offered an invite. When you arrived I asked all for a small favor. Maybe a 10 minute favor. Stack chips, make sure decks were all 52 cards or maybe make coffee. You all would jump to help!!

We would play then and have a fun night. Do you see my point? Because we are behind our computers and there are a million freerolls 97% are saying "pass, i'm not making a post or gonna support you 1 bit". Since you know that most will do the same you are comfortable in your anonymity. I can ask 20 times and nothing will ever change. I bet most never even noticed I dropped the added money in many freerolls this month. I gave the money to my bud Born (and other buyins) for working his butt off for me with no pay. He just likes to help his friend and play for the Shark Tour.

I'm trying to shake you guys and girls up. I can stop the freerolls right now and do quite well. I could set up 2 or 3 a month and have bigger money buyins. Thats what most of the sites are requesting from me anyway.

Support us now by posting or playing in buyins or both. If you think this is asking too much please don't email me or complain. Go to another site, OPT OUT of our next bulk mail and we wish you luck in the future. You will find a good site to play and we will not be asking you to do something that you feel is unfair.

If we get our Forum rockin' you ALL will benefit from more added money. There are some great players posting in there. Ask some questions, improve your game, tell a joke, make a friend.

I wrote this very fast and never use speel check so I hope this makes sense.

Lack of Support From Many Freeroll Players?

Pot Limit Omaha Freeroll! Password is shark333

If you are a Shark low buyin player or Forum contributor please ignore this rant:

Our third Forum Freeroll so far has only 150 entries. Of our 1457 forum members only 568 have ever made one post. 889 have never posted.

We have 18,000 members and one of the few requests I have made to our members was to register and post in our free forum. This request has been made several times.

Are you a Shark member and only play freerolls and never participate in our low buyin events? If so, why wouldn't you support us in another way by participating in the FREE forum?

Many freeroll sites are dropping. Poker sites are cutting back on freerolls.

I am told by Poker site execs its because most freerollers are never going to deposit to support the poker sites or affiliates (like the Shark Tour). Many believe that its better to spend money elsewhere to attract "real money" players.

I'm trying to find a way for non-depositing players (play chippers/freerollers) to support us. This seemed like an easy request but again we are disappointed by 150 entries.

I'm perplexed as to why you wouldn't help us out in the free forum? Is it because there are a 10 freerolls a day so why bother making a post or 3? Please share why in this thread. If you are a veteran player maybe you have a theory on this subject? I would love to hear any theories you have as well.

I Watch TV

Sopranos. Did they have to use a pool cue on Vito? Will Tony stand for these guys goin over his head all the time. Its time for Tony to take control. It might get ugly. Several shows this year are top notch. Not sure what i'll do when this series is over.

Rescue Me Denis Leary is the nuts. Hot Babes on this show also.

Dog the Bounty Hunter , Beths Bosoms get larger each show and are scheduled to implode in August. See her chase hardened criminals in 4 inch heels and clothes so tight you want to throw a big tarp or awning around her. Watch as Dog tries to make the bad guys appear scary to capture. Uh...Dog...he missed a court appearance for being in possession of a joint. Dog: Hes a runner.....known to carry weapons.......hes not gonna go down easy....regulators mount up! This show is so bad its good. Leland getting his assed kicked by the crack head was classic. Dog to son: "Way to cover up son!" How bout fightin back insteada gettin pummeled by a 140 lb crack head? This was after Leland hosed him down with massive amounts of mace. They all jump in suburban and run away scared. Way to go regulators.

High Stakes Poker (best Poker show ever) I bout popped a vein when Hellmuth again made an ass outa him self. The all in push when dominated against Barry Greenjeans was best poker show ever. Insta push. ooops. Half the table was taunting him for being outa his league (he was).

Big Love HBO (wife likes more then I do) I woulda already shot the blonde wife (leaving 2, he has 3 now). Seems like something big is gonna happen but it never does. Harry Dean Stanton (one of best bad guys ever) is wasted in this role. He needs to start pumpin lead into a wife or swingin a pipe.

Real Sports w/ Gumbel Great Sports Magazine

American Casino (GVR Casino) Lotsa whiners but cool hotel/casino that looks like a fun place to stay.

HBO "Cathouse" Moonlight Bunny Ranch, Hookers Gone Wild
(Best show when Mom brings dork virgin son to Ranch and pays for it. She comes in hookers room to negotiate and seems disappointed she can't stay and watch. This is taking reality TV to far)

Entourage HBO
Good show but only runs about 20 min (each episode).

Deadliest Catch, Alaska Crabbers (gettin old, you can only watch so many pots get pulled). The size of sum of the waves crashing onto these boats is incredible.

Las Vegas Law, Cool Vegas lawyer is master salesman who kisses Judges, Prosecutors and victims asses, 24/7, for light sentences or acquittals for his mostly guilty clients. Really good TV, IMO. This guy reminds me of every great car salesman I have ever worked with.

Survivor - Bug eatin outdoorsman comes up with sum strong survival ideas. If I ever get to far from a hotel I think i'll be fine now.
